About us
What is emergency work and how is it compensated?
From time to time, situations may arise during work in which an unexpected event interferes or seriously threatens to interfere with normal operations. In such situations, the employer has the right to obligate employees to perform emergency work. The employer can also require emergency work to be performed in situations where an unexpected event poses a threat to life, health, property or the environment.
Employees may be obligated to perform emergency work on top of regular working hours only to the extent that this is necessary and for no longer than two weeks at a time. Employees receive overtime pay for emergency work in excess of maximum regular working hours and Sunday pay for emergency work performed on Sundays.
