Job alternation leave allows employees to take an extended period of time off work for no specific reason.

Job alternation leave refers to a contractual arrangement between an employer and an employee whereby the employee is released from their duties for a specific period of time while the employer hires an unemployed jobseeker for the duration of their leave.

Job alternation leave is governed by the Finnish Act on Job Alternation Leave. Compliance with the Act on Job Alternation Leave is enforced by employment authorities and occupational safety and health authorities together. Eligibility for a job alternation allowance is determined by the local TE Office.
