If I resign while I am laid off, will I need to work my notice period?

Employees have the right to resign with immediate effect during a lay-off regardless of the length or type of their employment contract. The normal period of notice need not be observed. If you already know when your lay-off is due to end and you resign less than seven days before the date on which you are due to resume work, you will need to work out your notice period.
